Is a person still a nudist if they like to be naked at home but don’t do it around others or in public?
Many debate the definition of the label nudism so I’d like to ask you what you think is and isn’t a nudist…If a person never leaves their house naked nor do they ever appear naked around others socially, are they still considered a nudist even if they enjoy being naked in the privacy of their own home?
If they are okay with being nude around others, but haven’t gotten the chance to yet, they are still a nudist. If they like being naked at home, but refuse to be nude around others, then their just a textile. Or should we call them a halfy?

LikeDislikeNude is nude, regardless of where you are or who you’re with. If you like being naked other than in the shower then you’re a nudist. You couldn’t carry a membership card if there were any anyway because you have no pockets.

LikeDislikeI hate titles, if you enjoy what it is you are doing at the moment it makes you a human, a happy one at that.

LikeDislikeYou could be considered a nudist if you are only shower naked! It is more of a mind set, then a set of rules!!! I would say yes!

LikeDislikeAdrian- The word textile implies clothes. If they are nude at home in a non sexual manner I think it qualifies as a nudist, but home nudist. In the house, in the yard, laying out in the sun and so on.

LikeDislikeWhat is not a nudist is someone who gets naked to sit on skype hoping they get a boner from chatting computer sex style.

LikeDislikeI’ve never thought of nudism as being naked all the time. It’s more about not giving a damn if someone is naked or not.

LikeDislikeI agree with all above statements. But there’s definitely something to be said for crossing that threshold of dropping your shorts for the first time in public. Shaky knees, feeling of being exposed. I’m always stoked for the first timers. Cause I know in twenty minutes they’ll be grinnin from ear to ear. :)

LikeDislikeThe fact is, I can’t do it in the public. But I do have friends know I’m a nudist and I stay naked when they’re here.
So… public nudity is not a fact I guess.

LikeDislikeLOL, Mike. That was me, all right. Took me a while the first time I went to San Onofre, but now, almost fourteen years later, it’s second nature to me.

LikeDislikeMelissa is right–I know this may sound a bit evasive to some here. However, being a nudist is much more than simply a state of dress It is a state of mind–A way of life of being relaxed and open with yourself, God, and the World. It’s about learning to accept, understand, and be at peace with yourself, and others for who and what really we are–warts and all.

LikeDislikeTo me being nude at home alone means yours still working past a couple of hangups instilled by others.. Being a Nudist means that you are as Samuel puts it and are doing what you can to enlighten all the clothed people that you can!!!

LikeDislikeRichard- in my case, the nudist clubs are not close and it’s too cold to be nude outside in winter so at home is only option here. Nude at home is comfortable as well. I am less about titles so I don’t even advertise myself as a nudist. I simply just like to be nude and clothed when appropriate. The one label that drives me crazy is textile. I see it used often As if it’s criminal to wear clothes. I am less about things that create a divide amongst a population. Who one is, this is more important than if they wear clothes or not, have fakeboobs, piercings and whatever else people are against.

LikeDislikeYes a nudist is someone who likes to be nude. I was a home nudist for years before I went out to resorts or beaches but I was still a nudist.

LikeDislikeI say no being if you go by that logic then 100% of people are nudists, everyone is nude in their home often even alone. To me being a nudist is something social. Even if you only do it at home and dont tell anyone else then for sure you are not a nudist in my eyes. If you only go nude in your home and remain nude while you have guests yes you are a nudist. But simply taking a shower and not getting dressed for around hour after your done while alone does not make you a nudist, I am sorry.

LikeDislikeTo me, “nudist” is just a label. It’s OK to just be comfortable with being that way home alone, but being social with others that way is much more liberating.

LikeDislikeI think this would fall under the categories of closet and family nudists. Closet nudists like to be naked but not socially. Then there’s family nudists. These people like to be nude but not in public. They don’t mind being nude with their family and they would probably allow their kids to run around nude too.
So yes, they’re nudists! :)
