Has anyone ever been fired from a job for being a nudist?
Does anyone know of any cases where someone lost a job because he or she was a practicing nudist? What if some picture surfaced on line and that person was in the background – would that be an issue for employers?
I don’t know of anyone ever losing a job because they are a nudist. It’s entirely possible, but that would be a reason for litigation.
As for the picture on-line, I make a point of not having my picture taken at nudist events and will not post pictures of myself in the nude on-line. There are too many times where pornographic websites will take nudist’s photos from a location and post it on a site, labelling it porno. To short circuit that, I won’t post pictures of myself in the nude on-line. I like to think of it as taking responsibility for my actions.
As for anyone else taking my photo, I don’t believe anyone ever has (nor would they really want to), but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.
I’ve heard of a story where one person was removed from a position as a youth camp counsel at a Christian camp because he directly advised the management he was a nudist.
As far as my own experience, I’ve been open and honest with every employer whom I’ve worked for in the past and they still give me a good reference. The outcome of them firing was not a possibility because nudism was a transition after employment with their company.
One of them was on my DN page for sometime and recently took me off for other reasons. We still keep in touch. They are great people and I return the recommendation for everyone of their businesses. Although, out of respects with their clientele and sponsors, I’ve been advised not to publicly promote them on any of my sites.

LikeDislikeI know of a specific case some time ago. That’s why I always tell prospective employers BEFORE a job offer.
Employment law is complex, varies from state to state, and is changing all the time. To the best of my (layman’s) knowledge, naturism is not protected by employment law at all.

LikeDislikeI absolutely could happen, depending on where you live. For example, nudism is illegal in Arkansas. It’s even illegal to promote nudism in Arkansas. This is not an old “blue” law, but was passed in the 90’s. The text is below, so in Arkansas, you not only can be fired for being a nudist, but prosecuted as well.
ARKANSAS
§ 5-68-204. Nudism
(a) The term “nudism” as used in this section is defined to be the act or acts of a person or persons congregating or gathering with his, her, or their private parts exposed in the presence of one (1) or more persons of the opposite sex as a form of social practice.
(b) The provisions of this section shall not apply to the enumerated acts when:
(1) The purpose of the person committing the act or acts is to render medical or surgical treatment, or to determine the need for medical or surgical treatment, or to cleanse such sexual part, and the person committing such act is a licensed physician, as defined by §17-80-101, or any such physician of a sister state making a professional call into Arkansas, or the person committing any such act did so under the professional direction of any such physician, or the person committing any such act is a nurse duly registered or licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Nurse Examiners; or
(2) When the persons are married legally one to another.
(c) It shall be unlawful for any person, club, camp, corporation, partnership, association, or organization to advocate, demonstrate, or promote nudism, or for any person to rent, lease, or otherwise permit his land, premises, or buildings to be used for the purpose of advocating, demonstrating, or promoting nudism
(d) Any person, club, camp, corporation, partnership, association, or organization violating any of the provisions of § 5-68-204 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or imprisoned for not less than thirty (30) days nor more than six (6) months, or both such fine and imprisonment for each offense.

LikeDislikeReally????????????????????? That just does not make any sense! Why has AANR or NAC or TNS ever challenge the unconstitutional merits of such a law?

LikeDislikeI’m sure people have been, and I’d prefer not to be one of them. I work in the non-union private sector where it’s “employment at will”. I’m just one bad boss away from being on the street if the guy simply doesn’t like me.
