Why do you think there’s a consistent lack of women in naturist settings?
Does anyone have ideas on how to get more ladies involved In Nudism
It’s two questions that I know have been discussed time and again. I’m referring to the U.S. because it might be different in other countries. But I would really like to know what people think about this. The reasons might be simple or numerous and complicated, but either way, I’d also like to get more women involved in Nudism in general!
If they’re under 40, they tend to have a lot of body and self image issues. Over 40, they realize that everything they knew, was wrong, lol.

LikeDislikemaybe I’m a little biased, but I think the attention ladies get from men seem to turn them off a lot in a naturist environment. Women are beautiful, but most guys need to really lay off with their attention on the ladies.

LikeDislikeI agree with Abraham—-Men act like a womans breast or other parts of her body is something they have never seen before so they tend to leer too often for too long.I may offend someone saying this but being a straight male I know how women feel when I see gay men looking at me for longer then necessary, it makes me also want to cover up and leave. For me the longest I look at a nude woman who I have just met or just saw nude for first time is maybe 30 seconds on and off during 30 seconds I mean but I don’t continue to leer as she goes about her business.

LikeDislikerabbitnbunny, it’s so true. I have heard many times that the older women get, the less they care about what they look like naked. It’s ironic considering “beauty” fades as we get older and gain weight and wrinkles. As for my girlfriends who are in their 20s, they are really self-conscious and obsessed about every little flab and bit of fat on their bodies. So, I definitely point to the body image issue as a main reason. (Now if I could only convince them that no one cares about their belly fat, and that their bodies are completely unique, normal, and beautiful!)

LikeDislikeBody image & self esteem issues might certainly be on the radar, but I definitely blame the guys. I’ve been watching this happen for many years; Women will show up to try the nude beach, single or with another woman, cute or not, the single guys hit on them, and/or gawk at them the whole time they’re there, then you never see those women again. 99.9% of the women that show up at “naturist” places despise being hit on or gawked at. For some reason (testosterone overload) some guys don’t “get” that. Some guys will even hit on married women, right in front of their spouse. Most of the regulars have had to chase off more than their fair share of those kind of guys, but that doesn’t bring back the women, or change the flavor of the experience.
Pirate’s cove was the worst place for that, where entire groups of fully clothed migrant farm workers would come down after mass on Sunday afternoons and scour the beach for the best looking women, then move in next to them, start drinking their Budweiser and shamelessly gawk like there was no tomorrow. The woman would move, or leave; the farm workers would change locations in favor of the next best looking victim.
We used to say “There goes the neighborhood” every time new girls would show up at San O, because we knew all the single guys and clothed creepers were about 30 seconds behind. And we always knew as the women left for the day – usually pretty quickly after being hit on – that they wouldn’t be back.
The issue of women’s distaste of being hit on, or gawked at, doesn’t just affect single women or newbies either. I’ve met plenty of men over the years who’s spouse is no longer interested in naturism, due to that sole reason (my own wife being not far behind, in truth). I’ve also met some single women who love to enjoy naturism, but only prefer the better naturist clubs, and go out of their way to avoid the single-male-naturist experience.
Anyway, just thought I’d share my observations on that subject. I definitely blame the guys – and my wife agrees.

LikeDislikeI’ve wondered if the textiles have as much trouble with gender balance as we do. If they don’t then perhaps we should observe them to see if we can tell what they are doing differently. I can’t see how just taking our clothes off could be causing all of this trouble. There must be something else. If we can find the cause then a solution should be easy.
In the meantime, if all the ladies would adopt the slogan “Bring a friend” they might see their numbers double almost immediately. When I go to the gym, I see that there is a gender balance problem in the aerobics class — nearly all ladies. Only two or three, perhaps four men. I’ve wondered how they handle it but they keep coming back day after day struggling to maintain the pace set by the ladies.

LikeDislikeThis may work not just for females but for anyone you would like to introduce into nudism.
Snail mail (yes there is still such a thing) a nudist related brochure to the person. (No return address) See if they mention it to you or in a few days subtly mention something you saw relating to the topic. Then watch the reaction. Take the opportunity to educate if needed.
Those who you think may resist – getting them “through the door” so to speak may be the hardest part. But once they do and they realize what it’s all about life becomes so much easier. Following that respect their decision whether to embrace it or not. Personally I have seen it go both ways.
You also may be surprised that those whom you think may have reservations about it, may NOT! But, you don’t know until you try.

LikeDislikeI have actually not really had this experience. The FYN and Vita Nuda events that I have attended have almost always been about 50% male and 50% female. It is never an exact 50/50 ratio, but most of the time it is pretty close.

LikeDislikeDo you ladies realize how difficult it is for a nudist male to meet a nudist female? If the female is at a CO beach, at least she’s open to give nudism a try. Now, how would you suggest a single male, approach that woman to see if there’s any chemistry for a relationship without turning her away, or appearing that you are just trying to get a closer look? btw… as a single male, I have no problem meeting single ladies on BN cruises, and I’ve shared cabins with males and females.
